To Science Avenger

I decided to stroke your ego and read the post that you linked to find the positions that make people ignorant.  I have issue with a couple.

The Bible does not form the basis for our laws:

Technically correct, though the Founding Fathers did believe that our natural rights as human beings stems from a higher power. i.e.  "the separate and equal station to which the laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them."  While not directly endorsing the Christian God as the modern GOP does, the Declaration of Independence does recognize that a deity exists.

Evolution is not "just a theory":

Agreed.  If you actually spoke to some republicans you'd see that most of us are rational people.  Don't believe everything CNN/MSNBC tells you about "God fearing" GOP supporters.

Homosexuals are not deviants living a chosen lifestyle:

This one is up in the air.  There hasn't been conclusive research either way, and do we really want there to be?  If the 'cause' (I use that word carefully) of homosexuality is discovered then it will be easy for parents to decide whether or not they want a gay/straight child.  Eugenics is always dangerous.

Allowing homosexual marriages will not destroy society:

Completely agree.  In fact, I'll take it one step further.  I don't believe that the government has any right to define marriage in any way.  If a homosexual couple can find a church willing to marry them then they have every right to use the word marriage in my eyes.  If they don't want to go to a church then they are free to get a civil union and call it marriage, just like all of the heterosexual couples who do the same thing.

Aborting an early pregnancy is not a murder:

I disagree on this one, but it's no use arguing about it... so I'll move on

Abstinence-only education does not work:

Agreed.  Though really it should read that no sex education works.  When sex ed. was instituted in the 50's (before abstinence only) the rates of teen pregnancy and stds nearly tripled.  Not to mention the fact that roughly two thirds of American schools don't comply with the abstinence only policy and teach about safe sex anyway.  Which means that there are millions of teens with 'proper' sex education still being dumb.

Anthropocentric Global Warming is the consensus of scientists:

Homosexuality was considered a disease by a consensus of psychologists until the mid 70's.  Were they right then? Were the dissenters crazy radicals who had no knowledge of science?  Dissension should always be viewed in a positive light with regards to science.  Dissension allows for good theories to be vetted and for bad ones to be discarded.

Lowering taxes does not increase revenue:

I'll  leave this one as a research exercise for you ScienceAvenger.  After the Bush tax cuts the amount of money paid in by the upper 10% tax brackets increased, bring in more revenue than previous years.
